The company is expanding its involvement in repowering projects in Navarre through the comprehensive management of the dismantling and recycling of turbines
RenerCycle has been selected by the Norwegian company Statkraft to carry out the dismantling, recovery and recycling of the Montes del Cierzo I wind farm, located in the municipality of Tudela (Navarre), as part of the repowering project being driven by the developer.
The project involves replacing turbines installed in 2000 with more efficient technology. The entire wind farm is undergoing a major transformation that will significantly reduce the number of wind turbines, increase installed capacity by around 50% and double energy production.
Specifically, the turbines being removed — Ecotècnia models with over 25 years of operation — are dismantled on-site using specialised techniques and subsequently transported to RenerCycle’s logistics centre in Falces, where the recycling process begins.
According to Javier Villanueva, CEO of RenerCycle: “this new contract consolidates RenerCycle’s presence in Navarre and reinforces its role as a leading industrial partner in repowering projects, where the sustainable management of wind turbines at the end of their useful life is key to maximising asset value and minimising environmental impact.”
Through initiatives such as this, RenerCycle continues to make progress towards its #ZeroWaste goal in the wind energy sector, transforming decommissioned wind turbines into new resources and contributing to a more sustainable energy model.
